Couture show of Jean Paul Gaultier, traditionally held in-house, in a spacious hall on the first floor of the brand’s headquarters, has been delayed for an hour.
Having examined the front row, making sure that the entire fashion world is here and wondering who else we expect, I went through the press release, courteously placed on miniature guest chairs, in a search for the collection’s theme. Where would he send us for a fashionable journey this time, this animator in a striped shirt, the most French of all French designers?

We are in for a surprise! Finally Catherine Deneuve accompanied by a crowd of photographers, took the last vacant seat in the front row (oh that’s who we were waiting for!) And the show began.
Black trench with “bat” sleeves, very Gaultier, opens the show.
It is followed by a men suit with a silver fox cape, the ensemble of leggings and a pullover with a standing collar on a zipper, side inlays of mink and similar superimposed cones, imitating breasts.

The collection is soaked with Parisian chic, elegance and spirit of Gaultier of all times.
Leather, satin, high rounded shoulders with fur inserts, mesh tights with printed Eiffel Tower.
A mini-dress decorated with ostrich feathers and paillettes is cheered by the public with applauses.
Highlight of the program is the appearance on the podium of a burlesque star, habitué of the chic jet-sets, dancer Dita Von Teese in a long black dress of jersey and sheer silk.
Professionally undressing, Dita appears in a corset made of black beads, forcing the audience to gasp looking at the size of her waist, effectively contrasting with feminine forms of the hips and chest ..The show is closed by a the bride in a long white trench with “bat” sleeves.. playing the Mendelssohn march on a violin.
I don’t want to leave, and not only me. Many guests remain on the seats, as if waiting for an “encore”, expecting a continuation of this crazy carnival, the magical secret of which is kept in secret by the ageless Parisian Gavroche!
