Sex is back to fashion

In two years, the Covid has changed everyone’s life. Many of us got divorced, some of us wanted to get into serious relationships and have tinder accounts. We’re all tired. We don’t know what tomorrow holds for us. Self-isolation and restrictions on movement – it all feels like the end of the social world.
Because of the current situation in the world, we want even more than before to have fun, to kiss, and, against all odds, to be closer to each other.
Fashion, as a reflection of reality, responds quickly to these needs. The most progressive designers, relying on their basic instincts, create very festive and sexy-feminine collections.

The last show of the brand Mugler brightly represented this trend: hypersexual suits, tight dresses with asymmetrical necklines, leggings with thong outlines, transparent materials, a lot of mesh and stones. Creative director, Cadwallader combining sport with lingerie and celebrating different body shapes.

Women’s collection Saint Laurent Fall-Winter 2021/2022 follows this vibe: shiny bodysuits, deep necklines, short dresses, leather miniskirts and shorts, high heeled boots. This collection is for those who are not afraid to show their body.

In the last Versace Pre-Fall collection we also see the sexuality expressed in the minimal length of skirts, crop tops, corsets and dresses emphasizing the silhouette and chest lines.

Sexuality is a new fashion trend for powerful modern women.

Self-confident women dress for themselves and they are not afraid of harassment, because the world has changed and we all have right to look how we want, how we feel today. Some women wear suits in the name of gender equality, playing by the rules of the «man’s world». Others express power and authority through sexuality.
This trend is also reflected in photography. Over the past two years, magazine covers and photo shoots by top fashion photographers have expressed explicit sexuality.

We are now witnessing a new round of the sexual revolution, just as we saw in the ’60s and ’70s. A new and broader consciousness is taking shape. Today there are more than 70 genders.
There are more and more soap operas that raise topics of relationships and problems of same-sex couples, as well as representatives of other genders: « Sex Education”, “Euphoria”, “Pose” etc.

On a par with psychologists, sexologists are becoming more and more popular.
Paradoxically, the sexual revolution is closely intertwined with feminism.
In 2020 Polish Vogue magazine published a cover with a naked model Anja Rubik, who supported women protesting against the ban on abortions.

In many countries, feminist communities advocate the introduction of a law protecting women working in prostitution. Today we see more and more women into professions that are considered masculine. More and more famous people are confessing their non-traditional orientation, or that they have changed their gender.
We may not understand and accept all trends, but the world is changing and we are together with it.
