Alexis Mabille FW2016

In the fall-winter couture collection Alexis Mabille focused his work on the colors. Under the general theme – “Pastel Vibrations” – the designer presented to the public twenty-three evening gowns made in soft, slightly chilly shades ranging from aquamarine to pearl.

Alexis left experiments for another time: most of the looks are variations of what we have already seen in previous seasons: long sheath dresses of silk crepe, trimmed with satin ribbons; bustier dresses transforming into tuxedos – a signature and, in my opinion, the most interesting one; laced inlays, omnipresent in all Mabille’s collections.

Toward the end the relative restraint of evening looks gave way to deliberate splendor, slightly betraying the good taste, most probably to please certain clients’ preferences. Fourteenth look – a girl wearing a corseted dress and a voluminous skirt, made of tens of meters of tulle, gathered in three rows of frills, reminded a runaway from a ball Disney’s Cinderella. So as the twenty-second one wide crinoline made of gold Casimir with pockets-bows. Too much is too much.

Who knows whether Alexis Mabille is making plans for a conquest of new clients – addicts of Lebanese “for show’’ chic. In any case, some stylistic experiments in haute couture line will not harm.
