The modern version of Austrian style, so precious to his heart, Karl Lagerfeld presented in Métiers d’Art Chanel collection on the 2nd of December.
The event took place in the magnificent Schloss Leopoldskron rococo palace in Salzburg where… the opulence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was reincarnated.
Tyrol feathered hats and breeches, the trims and braiding, laced-up suede thigh-highs, Hungarian military suites and reinvented dresses of the empress Elisabeth of Austria – one of the most beautiful crowned fashion trend-setter of her time, nicknamed Sissi – created the atmosphere of a faire-tale and literally brought us one and half century back.
Still the key piece of the collection is meant to be the iconic Chanel jacket which, according to the legend was inspired to Mademoiselle by the one of a hotel lift boy during the Gabrielle’s Austrian holiday in the middle of 50es.
Details stay the Chanel’s signature. If you look closer to the clothes you will discover the unbelievable craftsmanship: lots of embroidery incrusted with the stones and feathers which look like very light fur while with the artificial pearls Karl created the fancy jewelries which imitate the embroidery. Fabulously fantastic very high couture.
