American writer and filmmaker Susan Sontag, having lived the second half of her life with a famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, once said: «what is most beautiful in feminine women is something masculine». It was this quote Alexis Mabille chose as a starting point to create his fall-winter haute couture collection.
His ideas about feminine masculinity designer embodies in stylistic contrasts: straight black trousers Alexis combines with sheer lace blouse and a fur boa; slightly bell-bottomed crimson pants with side along satin stripes contrast with fiery red lace top; an ensemble of a laconic bolero suddenly descends as a silk skirt with airy tulle flounces, while a broadtail jacket trimmed with mink is worn over a flesh-colored lace mini dress.
Emerged in the middle of the show boudoir robes involuntarily reminded me the looks of Ulyana Sergeenko spring-summer collection. It could be that the French was inspired by the creativity of a languid Russian beauty, who, despite her deceptive fragility, conquered the catwalks of Paris fashion Olympus – and that takes lots of courage! Ultimately, suggests to us Mabille, the masculinity is manifested in behavior and is absolutely compatible with flounces, ruffles and bows.
