“Royal Affair” called this time his collection Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab. And not accidentally. Just as precious stones on regal robes and ornaments shimmer in the light at a royal ceremony so on the podium appeared, one by one, models radiating the brilliance of rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pearls: stones, the color of which was the basis of this collection.
The show was opened by ruby shades, because Ruby has always been considered a royal stone, decorating the crowns of monarchs. Silhouettes of deep crimson tones, embroidered in the form of rays, were reflecting light on the columns of Palais Brongniart hall. Bustier dresses of pleated with sheen silk of straight wide cut and always emphasized waist looked really gorgeous on the red carpet of the Palace.
The shine of ruby was followed by a placer of pearls: dresses of silver shades continued the “ceremony.” Gowns of tulle and crepe georgette, embroidered with sequins and crystals, resembled lace, so popular at royal courts. The neckline of every dress has been made in a form precious stone cut: oval, sharp, pear-shaped. Their embroidered edges reminded diamond facets.
The bride dress could not but amaze by its trunk embroidery, reminding a constellation, a comet of light from moonstone and quartz. The train and the veil we helped to be carried by three lovely nymphs: all in the best royal traditions.
The new collection of Elie Saab is luxurious, elegant and full of light. It fully deserves the word ‘royal’ in its name and is comparable, perhaps, only to the precious gems themselves.
