Dior Couture SS2013

With each collection created for the sacred French house Christian Dior, the “rookie” Raf Simons confirms the bet made on his candidacy for the post of creative director by the brand owners.

Simons spends hours and weeks in a painstaking study of the archives of the great founder of the fashion house and still creates fresh, relevant and feminine dresses, in which dominates the architectural structure – the signature of neither Christian Dior or scandalous “infant terrible” John Galliano, who celebrated the whole epoch in the history of CD. In the re-thought silhouettes of ‘Bar’ jackets, in bustier dresses reminding the famous “new look”, in a flower appliqué, present everywhere in the new collection – we trace the already formed updated style of the house – the style of Raf Simons.

In this spring-summer season the designer experiments with color and volume. Asymmetrical draping, layering and restrained tones are alternated with sunny orange, lemon yellow and rich burgundy, complementing each other, gathering in a spring story told by a discreet but excellent storyteller.

Haute Couture à la Simons is the high fashion of the future that is already here; much more minimalist than the XX century, utilitarian and free from prejudice reflection of our new reality, no matter how unusual it may seem to us at first.
