Atelier Versace SS2013

Despite the official beginning of the haute couture spring-summer 2013 fashion week scheduled for Monday 21 January, the day before, on Sunday evening all the key figures of the global fashion press, led by Anna Wintour and Suzy Menkes, gathered under the glass dome of the “Credit Lyonnais” headquarters («Le Centorial») in the snow-buried Paris.

The reasons for fashionistas to leave their warm hotels and residences, was the extracurricular show of Donatella Versace, who created a couture collection for her brand “Atelier Versace”.

Donatella does not leave any chance to an error: the cut of her clothes is adjusted to the millimeter. The inspiration, that this time the designer drew from ephemeral glass domes, whose delicate transparency is supported by steel structures, literally reads in dresses and trousers with subtle stripes of twenty-four carat gold and pleated skirts with gold laminated inserts.

The main mottos of Donatella – ultra-femininity and rich, far from casual bohemian, luxury materialize in every look. If dresses – then of the “anatomic” silhouette, if trousers – then skinny, if shoes – then only on a thin high heel. Fitted “biker” jackets are studded with Swarovski crystals; shoulders are accented by fur epaulettes with gold embroidery; evening dresses are either statutory fitted and boldly bare the thigh with a side slit, or are weightless double layered: with a mini dress-bustier in front and a flying train at the back.

The black-and-white palette is exploded by gold, lemon yellow and fluorescent fuchsia – Donatella is not the one who is afraid of bold color experiments, because all that she creates is thought to the tiniest details and therefore is perfect.
