Each presentation by Jean Paul Gauitier is a show that must go on. The show we all anticipate so much. But there is one person that cannot appraise the riot of colours, the rebellion cut of the Spring Summer 2012 Couture collection, cannot appreciate hairstyle and make-up. I’m talking about Amy Winehouse. The image of the singer could be read in each model.
Beehive hairstyle, exaggerated eye-liner. Amy would easily put on any of the presented pieces: bustiers, bodies, pencil skirts, jackets (long / short / colourful), corsets, floor-length dresses (as well as midi and mini), leggings, breeches, trousers. Or it would be possible to take off the skirt and stay in a black bustier and long gloves.
The accessories selection pleased the eyes: leather, rather coarse bracelets, bulky earrings and necklaces, belt / straps, gloves, colourful clutches.
But one detail did not give me rest – a veil. In this case, it was hardly an attribute of a bride’s gown, but rather a widow’s veil. However no notes of mourning here, but rather a contrary – a celebration of life that will continue.
