It all started from the “Youth Dew” of Estée Lauder. As a starting point for creation of the summer 2012 Alexandre Vauthier haute couture collection served the perfume’s bottle. Or rather its shape: concise, elongated and almost minimalist if not an only design “excess” – a golden bow, emphasizing the “waist”. “Gold” in the collection is mostly concentrated in accessories – an integral important part of the image. Massive gold-plated necklaces- collars, almost turning into protective armor in certain looks, are the most advantageous in combination with white: whether in a sophisticated trouser look with draped front opening the shoulders or in a bustier dress with a wide pale lilac ribbon-belt or in a long, widening at the bottom, gown with a low (very low) neck, trimmed with pale green ostrich feathers at the hem.
However the varnish glossy black a bit aggressive leggings supplementing pencil-dress with accented shoulders or the short structured bolero are also well harmonized with gold.
The collection is architectural like Art-Déco buildings of New York and sensual as the contents of a bottle of legendary Estée Lauder perfume.
