“Only those women who do not know how to dress are afraid of a colour. A dress may be brilliant without vulgarity, and delicate but not faded”- this citation from the “In Search of Lost Time” novel of Marcel Proust best describes “Colour Therapy”- the summer couture collection of the fashion house Alexis Mabille.
Designer, developing and bringing to the pinnacle the flower garden theme that inspired him to create the latest prêt-à-porter collection, scatters the podium with a colourful bouquet of flowers-girls. On the graceful stems past dazzled spectators float exotic bougainvillea, delicate gladiolus, sunny agapanthus, airy orchid, passionate poppies and royal lily. Each of the twenty-one monochrome looks corresponds to an exotic, garden or field flower. For the complete similarity faces of the models are painted to match the dress and a giant papier-mache bud is fastened on their heads.
The house style is recognizable in a tuxedo dress – one of the most interesting design finds of Alexis; in a signature bow with long loose ends, either nonchalantly down from the shoulders or tied at the back like a train; in a designer’s favorite- a dress made of rectangles and pareo; in rich laced inlays and original tulle capes, flying up to the movement.
Collection leaves a harmonious impression of completeness while the explosion of colour creates a joyful summer mood.
