Mugler PAP FW2011

The atmosphere in the hall of the eleventh arrondissement’s gymnasium, chosen by the house Mugler for the women’s prêt-à-porter fall/winter fashion show, was electrified to the limit. A crowd wanting to get in was much bigger than the usual frequenters of fashion shows. The reason of such interest was a participation in the show of the world star singer Lady Gaga, famed also for her scandalous wardrobe. Garments for Gaga are modelled by an Englishman, with Japanese-Italian roots, Nicola Formichetti, who took up the position of the creative director at Mugler last fall.

Everything touched by this couple turns, if not in gold, but in fiery, in an insane performance on the brink of a foul, saturated with sex and provocation. Models on tremendous platforms, walking like cats on an improvised podium between the wooden poles-columns, tightened in leather and latex, accompanied by the latest, not yet released, single of Lady Gaga, created an atmosphere of unreality. Monochrome looks, perfect in its completeness – black, blue and soft cream. Narrow skirts with a deep slit at the back; chests and spines exposed under superfine tulle; high waist of pants and low waist of sheath dresses; accentuated shoulders and almost theatrical makeup and hairstyles – Mugler fashion show was a real event of this Fashion Week.
