Franck Sorbier, a frequenter of Parisian haute couture weeks, once again surprised the fashion crowd with multifaceted artistic talent and originality. In his spring collection the designer told us four seemingly unrelated stories.
Bright “voodoo” style silk satin jackets (a contribution of the designer’s companion, Isabelle Tartière, which is also a president of the House) are hand-painted and in conjunction with the dreadlocks on the heads of mannequins create ethnic mood. Then we see a transition to a restrained “Parisian chic” in four black ensembles from rumpled-pressed tulle and silk muslin.
The third mini-collection consisting of long camel coloured dresses, also painted by hand, takes spectators into the mysterious world of shamans.
In the fourth story, more relaxed than the previous, prevails the colour. Light flowing tunic dresses evoke associations with precious stones: lapis lazuli, ruby, amethyst and amber.
Frank Sorbier’s bride is modern and at the same time subtle and feminine. The white ensemble of knee-length laces is a harmonious final chord of the collection.
