Georges Chakra SS2011

Beirut-based couture designer Georges Chakra presented his spring – summer collection in a défilé-off format during the Paris Couture fashion week. In anticipation of the show I run through the press-release: there will be 40 dresses of various lengths and colours presented to us. A miniature guipure coral dress, adorned with feathers and finest tulle, together with a layered green-blue long dress of muslin caught my attention.

And then the show began. The models were coming out on the runway in beautiful light airy dresses, from mini to maxi. Simple and sumptuous gowns were complemented by tulle drapery, studded with crystals and sequins. Neckline uncovers excellent young shoulders and is by itself a work of art, a sublime work of organza, gaze and satin

The apotheosis is a wedding dress: airy and snow-white as a cloud, wrapped in a translucent veil dotted white flowers. Nothing else as the embodiment of purity, innocence and elegance. Although the entire collection of Georges Chakra is a personification of sensual femininity, delicacy and grace.
